ECO Museum Extention

ECO Museum Extention

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

This independent annex works as a “background frame” for the museum designed by Matias Goeritz. It is also intended to enhance the ECO museum’s urban sculptural spirit.

Learning about the new building on the west side allows me to open a patio. This area serves as the distributor to the offices and storage, and as a visual connector between the new and the existing building. The main office is strategically located to catch sight of the movement of the museum’s pieces, activity on the patio, and the whole building, and is invited to participate in a “competition” that was not.

This exercise trained us to resolve the topology of galleries and a small museum. We also learned about the intense interest that, unfortunately, leads some architects to substitute design decisions for private interest. This is nothing new, but it is a must-fight. For more information about this so-called “competition,” please visit La Jornada Newspaper.
